Leaders thrive when they experience an authentic, connected life with God. Healthy leaders cultivate healthy churches and ministries that bless their communities.
Servant leadership can be exhausting, depleting and leave leaders feeling isolated. With little external encouragement to care for their own souls, leaders often struggle to sustain their spiritual life. Some leave the ministry, while others continue with a sense of fatigue, dryness and isolation, out of touch with a sense of God’s presence. This is recipe for burnout, not flourishing.
As leaders, there are a few places where they can be honest about their struggles, in companionship with others facing the same challenges.
What does participation in SoulCARE involve?
From September through May the SoulCARE cohort gathers together monthly for retreats that include:
• Guided instruction through a curriculum we created
specifically for pastors and leaders
• Time alone in prayer
• Community experiences
• Relaxation and fun
• Delicious meals
Between retreats participants engage in daily prayer practices aligned with our monthly themes, and meet for individual spiritual direction, all designed to help cultivate spiritual rhythms that leaders can sustain over time.
Our intent is to lovingly encourage and rejuvenate leaders and in doing so, to transform the ways they lead their staffs, churches or organizations.
SoulCARE
The heart of SoulCARE is rediscovery of God’s personal and generous love, and the joy-filled and abundant life offered in the kingdom of God.
SoulCARE is offered free of charge for participants as a metaphor for God’s lavish love. The cost to each participant is one of time and personal commitment to one’s own spiritual formation. Participants are expected to attend all retreats, participate in monthly spiritual direction and engage in daily prayer practices.
How to Apply
Leaders who are interested in SoulCARE must apply and then participate in a discernment process with the SoulCARE leadership team. Participation is limited.
WellSpring hosts information meetings for interested applicants in May for the 9-month cohort that will begin the subsequent September. If you are interested in attending an information meeting or in receiving an invitation to apply to SoulCARE contact us.

I will turn the desert into pools of water and the parched ground into springs."
